The minimum wage in New Zealand will increase to $17.70 an hour on 1 April 2019. The 2018 minimum wage is $16.50 per hour, thus an increase of $1.20 per hour.

The changes add up to $708 for a 40-hour week.

The starting-out minimum wage rates will increase from $13.20 to $14.16 per hour.
