Children holding CPVV can now study at schools as domestic students

The study conditions have changed for school-aged holders of a Critical Purpose Visitor Visa (CPVV). This means for the duration of a CPVV, a child can attend school, at primary or secondary level, as a full-time student.

The Ministry of Education (MOE) has also changed its requirements. To be considered as a domestic student, a child must hold a current CPVV and their parent(s)/legal guardian must have one of the following:

• a CPVV
• a New Zealand passport
• a residence visa, or
• a valid work visa.

The Education (Domestic Students) Notice 2022 was published today, 15 October 2022 – https://gazette.govt.nz/notice/id/2022-go488
